1. Cleanse and pat your skin completely dry; damp skin increases retinol sensitivity.
2. Dispense from the airless pump and apply a thin layer to the face, neck and any areas of concern.
3. Follow with a moisturiser such as Propaira Prebiotic Rich Cream if your skin feels dry.
If you are new to retinol, build up gradually: apply every second or third night for the first two weeks, then move to nightly as your skin tolerates it.
Tips:
- Patch test for 24 hours before first use.
- Wear a broad spectrum SPF 50+ sunscreen every morning while using retinol, as it can increase sun sensitivity.
- Do not combine with exfoliating acids (such as the Propaira Acne Exfoliating Serum) on the same night; alternate nights instead.
- Mild dryness or flaking in the first few weeks is common and usually settles. Buffer by applying moisturiser first if needed.
- Avoid the eye area, lips and nostril edges.
- Retinol is not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding; speak to your doctor.
- The airless pump may need several presses to prime on first use.
- Encapsulated Retinol 0.25%: pure retinol delivered gradually to help smooth the look of fine lines, wrinkles and uneven tone while staying gentle on the skin.
- Niacinamide 5%: supports the skin barrier and helps calm the look of redness while skin adjusts to retinol.
